Gonna try to start doing ‘World Building Wednesday’ things, where I write a little bit about the characters and universe of my (still unnamed) big story project—about religion, life, civilization, and the universe—every week. Also maybe I’ll get asks
Anu (later known as Anubis) is one of many gods in the story—he (actually, genderless) is a main character and sort of ‘moves along’ the plot. Though there are no real distinct protagonists and antagonists, Anu tends to be more moral than other characters, though there is moral ambiguity and cynicism all around. The story is not told from his point of view, but events center in around him.
God of the dead, lord of the underworld, yadda yadda Anu is more of a god of metaphorical deaths—the end of civilizations, order, humanity, ideas, and existence. PRETTY DEEP STUFF. He maintains the balance of existence in the universe and also gets into lucrative drinking bets with Sekh. In the hierarchy of gods, spirits, guardians, and other mystical beings, he ranks lower than other ‘ruling’ gods such as Re, Ise, and Has (whom I will all blab about another day) but is still respected because of his ~*enigmatic powers*~, which are sort of like magical class skills in fantasy RPGs.
He has the same basic personality of all gods—the typical, cliche polite, reserved attitude common of prissy aristocrats, though he tends to be more quiet and aloof than the others, in the stereotypical manner of a kawaii desu sugoi anime boy. As a rule of thumb, god characters are also perfect, with nearly no faults in actions and thought process, except Anu later fucks up big in the story (which I will hopefully summon the courage to post later this year!) Umm what else
His past is pretty ambiguous and admittedly I haven’t thought much about it (uh awkwardly unfinished Egypt Project) but he’s NOT LIKE OTHER GODS—in the sense that he’s self-created, like the first amoeba gods, and came up with the idea of an end to infinity, back when the universe was a meaningless lump of space vomit.
